Halloween

"Dia das Bruxas", or Halloween, is rooted in Celtic mythology. On October 31, was over the summer in the northern lands and tributes were made for good harvests and festivals.

Some believe that the origin of the word Halloween comes from hallowinas - the name given to female guardians of knowledge hidden in Celtic mythology.

Halloween is a traditional and cultural event, which occurs primarily in Anglo-Saxon countries, but with special relevance in the United States, Canada, Ireland and the UK, based on the celebrations and origin of ancient peoples.

The ratio of the celebration of this date with the witches themselves have begun in the Middle Ages following the persecutions incited by political and religious leaders, trials being conducted by the Inquisition, in order to convict the men and women who were considered healers and / or pagan .

But the tradition of dressing up comes from the legend that on October 31 the people who had died the year before came back to haunt the living.
